Manual operations

This camera is designed to produce the best possible picture when used in
AUTO mode (AUTO/MAN mode selection ise set to AUTO). However,
manual operations as described below are also available for when you wish
to use an external strobe, to shoot under special lighting conditions, etc.
For details on manual operations, refer to the Operating Instructions (Advanced
Operations).
AUTO/MAN mode selection
In AUTO mode, the exposure, aperture, and white balance are set to the
optimum values when the flash mode is set to A , ,
the flash mode is set to
exposure, aperture, and white balance.
In MAN (manual) mode, the exposure, aperture, and white balance can be
set as desired.
Exposure settings
This camera is adjusted so that the optimum brightness is obtained with the
exposure of ±0.
The brightness can be changed with the exposure settings changed. +
setting of the exposure increases the brightness, while - setting decreases
it.
Aperture settings
Two aperture positions (OPEN and CLOSE) are provided on this camera.
Normally use OPEN, but depending on the strobe to be used, the CLOSE
position may yield better results.
White-balance settings
If only the built-in strobe is used, AUTO is recommended for the white
balance.
If the flash mode is set to
set to MAN or an external strobe is used, appropriate white-balance
selection is required. A lower value makes the picture more bluish, while
a higher value makes it more yellowish.
