Before fi rst use
1. Unpack the device and check the items supplied for completeness (see the "Product
contents and device overview" chapter) and transport damage. If you fi nd any dam-
age, do not (!) use the device, but contact our customer service department.
2. Remove any fi lms and stickers that may be present from the device.
3. Before you fi rst use the device, we recommend that you let two to three full tanks
of water run through the coffee machine without any coffee powder in order to fl ush
through all the lines etc. and to rid them of any possible production residues. To do
this, follow the instructions in the "Use" chapter.
4. Then clean the permanent fi lter (11), the fi lter holder (10) and the glass pot (7) with
hot water and a little detergent. Dry these parts before they are placed back inside
the device.

PLEASE NOTE!
■ Never switch on the device without water in the water tank! The pump may be dam-
aged.
■ Before you fi rst operate the device, make sure that the water tank cover is closed and
that the permanent fi lter and the fi lter holder are inserted correctly so that the water
can run through the coffee powder without any problems.
■ Do not operate the device unattended so that you can intervene immediately in the
event of any malfunctions (e. g. overfl ow etc.).
■ Clean the device regularly in the manner described in the "Care and storage" chapter.
1. Place the device on a level, fi rm and heat-resistant surface. Make sure it is a suffi -
cient distance away from kitchen wall units etc. as steam will escape from the device.
2. Open the water tank cover (1) and pour the water into the water tank (3). Make sure
that the amount of water is between the bottom and top marks on the water level
indicator (4).
3. Insert the fi lter holder (10) into the fi lter compartment (9). Make sure that it is properly
seated.
4. Insert the permanent fi lter (11) into the fi lter holder (10).
5. Fill the permanent fi lter (11) with the desired quantity of coffee powder.
6. Close the water tank cover (11).
7. Place the glass pot (7) on the hotplate (6).
8. Plug the mains plug into a properly installed, easily accessible plug socket which
corresponds to the technical data of your device. Make sure that the mains cable is
neither squashed nor bent and cannot come into contact with hot surfaces.
9. Switch on the device. To do this, press the
the On / Off button (5) lights up.
If you want to stop the brewing process prematurely, press the
again. The control lamp then goes out.
