Before fi rst use
ATTENTION!
■ Keep children and animals away from the packaging material. Danger of suffocation
exists!
■ The device and accessories may have residues from production. Clean the device
and the accessories prior to using it for the fi rst time as described in these instructions.
■ Never submerge the device, the mains cord or the mains plug in water or other liquids.
■ When cleaning, do not use any scouring or abrasive cleaners. They could damage
the surface!
1. Unpack all parts and make sure that the scope of delivery is complete (see chapters
"Product contents and device overview") and check for any damages from transport.
Remove any existing foils and stickers from the device. If you identify damages to
the components, do not use them (!), instead contact our customer service centre.
2. Clean the fi lter compartment and the glas pot with warm water and a small amount
of detergent. Then dry all parts thoroughly before putting them back in the device.
3. Before fi rst use, we recommend performing a cleaning cycle (without coffee powder)
to rinse out the lines etc. and remove any production residue. A detailed description of
how to assemble and use the device is provided in the chapter "Use":
– Fill the water tank with water. Observe the MIN and MAX marks.
– Place the fi lter compartment with a fi lter (without coffee powder) in the device.
– Place the glas pot under the coffee spout.
– Connect the device to a properly installed socket.
– Move the On/Off switch to position I.
– Wait until no more water is dispensed from the coffee spout. Repeat the cleaning
cycle one to two times.
4. Turn the device off by setting the On/Off switch to position 0 and pull the mains plug
out of the socket.
5. Remove any leftover water from the water tank. Your device is now ready for oper-
ation.

ATTENTION!
■ Do not leave the device unattended so that you can immediately intervene in the
event of malfunctions (e.g. overfl owing etc.).
■ Caution: Risk of emitted steam! Never open the cover when the device is in use! Hot
steam or hot splash water may escape.
■ Before start-up, make sure that the cover is closed and that the fi lter compartment
and the fi lter have been correctly inserted.
■ Never add water to the water tank during the brewing process. You could scald your-
self with the sudden emission of steam.
