Operation
4.1
General instructions
When choosing the installation location, observe the following points:
Only install the gas warning system at locations where no electrostatic discharge of fast-moving dust can occur.
To prevent extraneous light influences, Dräger recommends using the supplied protective cap.
Radiant heat can lead to a temperature rise above the specified limit values. Dräger recommends using the supplied weather
protection or the supplied cover to prevent direct sunlight on the device.
Install the gas warning system in such a way that it is accessible for required maintenance activities.
Ensure that the bending radius of the instrument cable is observed. During installation, the bending radius should be at least
8 times the cable diameter. After installation, the bending radius must be at least 6 times the cable diameter.
The measuring path between the transmitter and receiver and the immediate environment must be kept clear of obstacles.
Dräger recommends a free measuring path of at least 25 cm in diameter.
To achieve fault-free measurement and as long maintenance intervals as possible, the transmitter and receiver should be
installed on a stable, low-vibration structure. The structure should not be distorted or bent.
Devices or components for use in explosion-hazard areas which have been tested and approved according to national or
international explosion protection regulations may only be used under the conditions specified in the approval and with
consideration of the legal regulations.
4.2
Preparation for operation
Install and commission the gas warning system as follows:
1. Install the gas warning system (see Chapter 4.2.1 on Page 46 or Chapter 4.2.2 on Page 47 or Chapter 4.2.3 on Page 48).
2. Wire the gas warning system (see Chapter 4.2.4 on Page 48).
3. Install the signal attenuator plates as necessary (see Chapter 4.2.5 on Page 51).
4. Commission the gas warning system (see Chapter 4.2.6 on Page 52).
5. Where necessary, make application-specific configuration settings (see Chapter 4.2.7 on Page 57).
When mounting and installing the devices arrange them as follows to ensure that the bending radius of the instrument cable
is observed. (r = 8 * the diameter of the instrument cable at installation, r = 6 * the diameter of the instrument cable during
operation)
The closed side of the terminal box must face upwards.
