Installation and Operating Instructions
ATTENTION
Smoke exhaust roof fans F400/F600 – B VD
B DEF SL 2000 or SL 3000:
− Unscrew and remove discharge-side protection guard from smoke exhaust roof fan.
− Detach predefined ridge in the discharge-side protection guard for deflector feet with side cutter or the like.
− Remove both nuts (or eyebolts) in the corners of the motor support plate (will be needed again).
− Insert deflector feet into fan from above.
− Connect feet in the corners of the motor support plate on the threaded bolts and screw to the motor support plate
(use dismantled nuts from step 3 and the two nuts in the polybag from size 450).
− Screw discharge-side protection grille back on smoke exhaust roof fan, deflector feet are guided through the re-
cess in the ridge (see step 2).
− Mount the deflector hood on the four feet, use provided mounting material.
− Observe tightening torque recommended in section 3.7.
B HSDV:
− Unscrew and remove discharge-side protection guard from smoke exhaust roof fan.
− Remove both nuts (or eyebolts) in the corners of the motor support plate (will be needed again).
− Insert roof fan attenuator feet into fan from above.
− Connect feet in the corners of the motor support plate on the threaded bolts and screw to the motor support plate
(use dismantled nuts from step 3 and the two nuts in the polybag from size 450).
− Mount roof fan attenuator on the four feet, use provided mounting material.
− If necessary (check local wind load), secure against high wind speeds from size 630 with on-site anchoring, see
section 3.3.
− Observe tightening torque recommended in section 3.7.
Connection of smoke extraction ducts with additional mounting accessories:
Flexible connectors STSB:
Flexible connectors (elastic sleeves) STSB... F400 or F600 must be used for the intake-side connection of smoke ex-
haust fans to smoke extraction ducts. When mounting the flexible connectors, it must be ensured that the installation
gap 145 mm is maintained and this prevents tension load or compression load. Do not mount the elastic connectors
so that they are staggered. This will prevent performance reduction and noise generation.
Extension duct VR:
When installing in duct sections, it must be ensured that there is a sufficiently long straight duct section 2.5 x D before
and after the fan (e.g. with extension duct VR...), as otherwise significant performance reductions and noise generation
can be expected.
Flanged circular attenuator RSD:
Duct installation with intake-side flanged circular attenuator RSD... F400. The intake-side flanged circular attenuator
must be mounted at the inlet together with a flexible connector.
Back draught shutter RVS:
Automatic back draught shutter RVS... F600 with spring return:
Can be installed horizontally in all directions, or vertically with upward air flow.
In case of vertical air flow, the spring return must be hung up on the RVS .

Positioning

The fan must be positioned horizontally on roofs in moderate climates at temperatures in the range from -20 °C to
max. +60 °C. The installation site must be suitable for the roof fan in terms of type and quality. The substructure must
be flat and sufficiently load-bearing.
Fan installation outside:
Helios smoke exhaust fans of type B VD are suitable for use outside under normal weather conditions in the installation
arrangement for vertical air flow direction. The penetration of precipitation into the smoke exhaust fan is permissible,
but it must be able to run unhindered out of the housing. In case of extreme, stormy conditions, rainwater can enter the
building in rare cases. Special installation conditions and sites, i.e. coastal or high freestanding buildings, may favour
these conditions. Robust design with efficiency-optimised housing made of seawater-resistant aluminium.
In particular, the intake opening area must be protected by mounting extension ducts or protection guards. The sub-
structure must be flat and sufficiently load-bearing.
The penetration of snow in the smoke exhaust roof fan must be prevented. Depending on the local installation situation,
a deflector (accessory) may be necessary. The smoke exhaust roof fans meet the snow load requirements according to
SL 0 as standard. The snow load class requirements according to SL 2000 or SL 3000 are met by placing a deflector
(B DEF SL 2000 or SL 3000) on the smoke exhaust roof fan.
m In case of wind speeds >150 km/h, fan components can be deformed, destroyed and slung away .
The fan may only be installed in places where wind speeds of 150 km/h are not exceeded. Additional security measures
must be taken if necessary.
The smoke exhaust roof fans in sizes 630 to 900 have four loosely connected eyebolts as standard. If necessary, these
