WARNING
Smoke exhaust roof fans F400/F600 – B VD
• The installation area must be designed so that people cannot be endangered by hot
gases.
• The outlet area of the fan and motor cooling system must be free of flammable ma-
terials and it must not be accessible to persons.
• The motor cooling air intake area must be clear and it must not be blocked.
• It must be checked whether ear protection is necessary for the installation situation.
• The operator is responsible for observing all plant-related safety regulations!
• A secure power supply and an electrical connection with function preservation must
be provided according to the valid regulations and guidelines.
• It must be ensured that snow cannot enter the smoke exhaust roof fan. The local
snow loads and the use of a deflector (accessories) must be checked.
• It must be ensured that rainwater can freely escape from the fan at the intended
points.
• Abnormally frequent activation/deactivation is not permissible.
• Protection against contact for the impeller must be ensured pursuant to DIN EN 13857.
• In order to maintain operational safety, a regular vibration check must be carried out!
Alternatively, the installation of an on-site vibration monitoring system is recommen-
ded.
• The information and permissible vibration limits according to ISO 14694 from the table
on page 11, section 3.6 must be observed.
• The planner and operator must ensure easy access for inspection and cleaning work!
• A uniform inflow and free outlet must be ensured.
• The smoke exhaust roof fan must be protected against deactivation by unauthorised
persons (isolator switch with padlock in the locking system for the operational posi-
tion).

Area of application

– Intended use:
The smoke exhaust roof fans are designed as smoke extraction fans with dual functions (smoke extraction and ventila-
tion). They are intended for use in mechanical smoke extraction systems (MRA) to ensure smoke ventilation in special
structures, such as sales locations, car parks, assembly areas or industrial buildings, etc.
The units must be operated within their performance diagrams (see catalogue). Vibrations and an increase in noise
generation indicate operation outside the performance diagram. The smoke exhaust roof fans are intended for use in a
system. They do not have their own control systems or an autonomous emergency-stop function.
Ventilation mode:
The smoke exhaust roof fan is used exclusively for conveying normal, dust-free and conditioned air as well as other,
non-aggressive and non-explosive gases. The unit is designed for a permanent air flow temperature of up to 120°C. The
fan cools itself. A maximum ambient temperature of 60°C must not be exceeded, even in smoke extraction mode. A
minimum speed must be maintained, see Speed control in section 1.8.
Smoke extraction mode:
The smoke exhaust roof fan also serves as a smoke extraction fan for conveying combustion gas pursuant to the tem-
perature class and time specification:

m Risk of injury in smoke extraction mode due to hot surfaces .
Please ensure that the fan is not accessible during operation, e.g. with enclosure.
− Reasonably foreseeable misuse:
The fans are not suitable for operation under difficult conditions, such as high levels of humidity, aggressive media,
long standstill periods, heavy contamination, excessive loads due to climatic, technical or electronic influences. The
same applies for the mobile use of fans (vehicles, aircraft, ships, etc.).
