6. COMMISSIONING

6.1 Filling the solar power system
Before filling the system, we recommend you wash the solar power
system with water.
We recommend you fill the solar power system in the morning when the
panels have not been exposed to sunrays yet, and in any case after the
system has been kept under cover.
This should be done within a week from the time of installation of the
system in order to prevent the flat seals from being damaged and the
ensuing possible failure of the system's hydraulic seal. Should this not
be possible, we recommend you replace the flat seals prior to commis-
sioning.
We recommend you fill the system using a filling pump in order to faci-
litate any air relief. Should an automatic air-relief valve be featured, we
recommend you cut it off with a ball valve so as to exclude it once the
filling operation is complete. .

During
filling,
OPEN
The possibility of automatic topping up via an automatic feeder left in the
open position is forbidden since any leakage of heat carrier fluid (mixture
of water and glycol) would not be detected (fig. 20).
NO

We recommend you check the absence of any air in the system spora-
dically as any air can be removed through the purpose-provided relief
valve.
Warning: before performing this task, always make sure that the
temperature of the fluid is below 60 °C to avoid scalds.

We recommend the use of a water-glycol mixture as the heat carrier
fluid. The percentage of glycol to be used in the mixture should be chosen
according to the desired protection temperature and therefore according
to the weather conditions in the location where the solar power system
is installed (in the case of propylene glycol, please see the table).

Check regularly (at least every other year)
the antifreeze properties and the pH of the
heat carrier
fl uid. Should the physical properties have
changed and the pH have dropped (below the
limit of 7), we recommend you replace the
heat carrier fl uid completely.
Should the physical properties have changed and the pH have dropped
(below the limit of 7), we recommend you replace the heat carrier fluid
completely.
Temperature probe (flow sensor)
The temperature probe should be placed in the purpose-provided probe
holder (fig. 6 on page 10). In order to guarantee optimal contact, we
recommend the use of heat conductive paste.
Operating pressure
Make sure the pressure in the system is between 2.5 and 3 bar.
The maximum operating pressure is 10 bar.
Solar collector maintenance
Check visually every six months the condition of the solar collectors to
ascertain whether there are any leaves or dirt which could decrease their
thermal efficiency or cause damage.
