Upon delivery of the orthosis to the patient, the orthosis must be tested for
correct fit. The patient is to be instructed in the operation and use of the
28P44 Wrist Positioning Orthosis.
7 Applying the orthosis
Apply the wrist orthosis with the fingers positioned in the integrated finger
channels and the thumb in the opening below. Attaching the hook & loop
closures provides optimal definitive positioning (without constricting).
8 Side effects
CAUTION
All appliances, including both supports and orthoses, that are fitted too
tightly to the body may result in local pressure spots or, in some cases,
even restrict the adjacent vessels or nerves.
9 Contraindication
CAUTION
In the case of the following clinical pictures, the appliance should
not be applied or worn without first consulting a physician:
1. Skin diseases and injuries of the body part to be fitted, especially in
case of inflammatory symptoms. Also scars with swelling, reddening
and overheating.
2. Lymphatic flow disorders - including unclear soft tissue swelling distant
to the body area to which the appliance will be applied.
3. Sensory disorders in the arm and hand.
10 Instructions for use and care
The orthosis must be used in strict conformity with the indication. The patient's
acceptance and cooperation play an important role. It is essential to explain
to the patient the proper use of the orthosis! The physician's instructions
must be strictly observed.
The daily duration of use and total period of application must be determined
by the attending physician.
