Filling the boiler with water

For safety reasons always unplug the power cord from the electrical outlet.
Always fill the boiler with clean water. NEVER add to the water substances such as perfumes
or descaling agents. Do not use washing-machine laundry water. This water always contains
residues which might stain the boiler, the iron and the garments.
Do not use car battery water because it may contain acids.
The boiler where the steam is produced is in stainless steel, it is sturdy and long lasting. You
can use tap water if you live in a soft water area. Whereas, if you live in a hard water area we
recommend using boiled or distilled water. The use of distilled water prevents the formation of
sediments thus prolonging the life of the appliance.
You can get your boiler descaled at one of our authorised Service Centres, even if the appli-
ance is no longer covered by warranty. Your water supplier will provide you with all the neces-
sary information regarding the content of scale of the water in your area.
Unscrew the safety cap of the boiler. When filling the boiler, you should make sure it is not hot.
Hot water sprinklings may cause serious burns. Use the anti-drip filler bottle (19), a funnel or
a suitable jug.
Never put the appliance under the tap and wipe off any water spilled over.
Do not try to fill the boiler with more water by shaking it, otherwise you will reduce the volume
of the steam chamber and the first emissions of steam.
If you need to iron only a few garments, simply fill the boiler with less water thus saving time
and energy.
Important: It is possible to use both cold tap water or previously boiled lukewarm water.
In order to prolong the life of your steam ironing system, however, we recommend that
you always use filtered, distilled or demineralised water.
If you live in a hard water area (hardness > 7 ° dH) then distilled or demineralised water
must be used.
Both distilled water and filters are available at most stores.
If you are not aware of the water hardness in your area, ask your water supplier.
Do not add descaling liquids to the water!
Do not use the washing machine laundry water!
