Precautions

On safety
• Since the laser beam used in the unit is
harmful to the eyes, do not attempt to
disassemble the casing. Refer servicing to
qualified personnel only.
• Do not put any foreign objects in the DC IN
jack.
On power sources
• Use the house current, or rechargeable
battery pack (not supplied).
• For use on house current: Use the AC power
adaptor specified in this manual. Do not use
any another AC power adaptor since it may
cause the unit to malfunction.
• The unit is not disconnected from the AC
power source (mains) as long as it is
connected to the wall outlet, even if the unit
itself has been turned off.
• If you are not going to use the unit for a long
time, be sure to disconnect the power supply
(AC power adaptor, or rechargeable battery
pack). To remove the AC power adaptor
from the wall outlet, grasp the adaptor plug
itself; never pull the cord.
On heat build-up
Heat may build up in the unit if it is used for an
extended period of time. In this event, allow
the unit to cool down.
On installation
• Never use the unit where it will be subject to
extreme of light, temperature, moisture or
vibration.
• Never wrap the unit in anything when it is
being used with the AC power adaptor.
Heat build-up in the unit may cause
malfunction or injury.

On the rechargeable battery
• To charge the battery, use only the specified
AC power adaptor.
• Do not disassemble or short-circuit the
battery, or throw it into fire.
• Do not expose the battery to moisture.
• Do not drop the battery or subject it to
mechanical shock.
On the MD cartridge
• Do not open the shutter forcibly.
• Do not place the cartridge where it will be
subject to light, temperature, moisture or
dust.
• Do not touch the surface of the disc inside of
the cartridge.
To protect the recorded data from
accidental erasure
Slide the safety tab so that a hole opens. The
recorded data is protected and new data cannot
be recorded. Close the hole by sliding the tab
back when re-recording.
