Checking the battery condition and the remaining
capacity of the MD
Press the MENU key repeatedly to display the OPTION screen.
BATT: The white bar indicates the charging
condition of the battery. It becomes shorter
as the battery is discharged. Use this
indicator as a guide for charging the battery.
DISC: The white bar indicates the recorded portion
of the MD. It becomes longer as you record
on the MD and the remaining capacity
decreases.
To quit the OPTION screen
Press the CANCEL/MIRROR key or the MENU key.
Note
The BATT indicator does not appear when the unit is operating with the AC power adaptor.
Turning off the LCD automatically –– LCD standby
function
To save the power consumption, the LCD of the unit is turned off automatically if you do not operate
the unit for a specified period of time.
You can set the period on the OPTION screen.
Press the MENU key repeatedly to display the OPTION screen.

Press the keys to move the cursor (z) to "LCD STANDBY,"
and the ZOOM +/– keys to select the desired period (in
minutes). Each time you press the ZOOM +/– keys, 5MIN,
10MIN, 20MIN, 30MIN or OFF appears in sequence.
Press the EXEC/ROTATE key to store the setting.
To cancel the LCD standby function
Set "LCD STANDBY" to "OFF" on the OPTION screen. The
LCD remains on even if you do not operate the unit.
