• Listen control
Your TOPTEL allows listening to a message of the answering machine while the caller leaves the message. This
allows stopping the answering machine and answering the communication or at the contrary leaving the answering
machine on. To stop the answering machine when listening, press . Then you are in direct contact with the caller.
To set the listening, press the key on the base station when the caller leaves the message. Thus you can
adapt the volume or disable the listening.
• Accessing to remote listening and control
With the remote listening function, you can access answering machine controls from a multifrequency telephone.
To do so, you must call your telephone, and then enter a 4-digit PIN code for remote listening to access the cor-
responding functions.
• Setting the PIN code for remote listening
The factory-PIN code for remote listening is «1590».
We recommend you to modify the code in order to protect you against an unauthorised access to your answering
machine.
1. Press [Menu] to access the main menu. Go to and press [OK] to open the menu of the answering machine.
2. Go to the menu "PIN for remote listening" and press [OK].
3. "PIN for remote listening" appears on the screen.
4. Then type the new 4-digit PIN code for remote listening and confirm it with [OK].
5. Then type the new 4-digit PIN code for remote listening and confirm it again with [OK].
6. "Ok! " appears on the screen and the new PIN code for remote listening is then active.
• Remote listening, access and control
With the remote listening function, you can access answering machine controls from a multifrequency telephone.
To do so, you must call your telephone, and then enter a 4-digit PIN code for remote listening to access the cor-
responding functions. A sound signal is emitted as a confirmation. To continue, enter one of the command orders
within the following 8 seconds.
Indication: If your answering machine is turned on, it reacts within 2-6 ring tones. It is turned off, it reacts after
(around) 16 ring tones to allow you to enter the PIN code.
