6. Maintenance and inspection

6.1 Safety measures

clothing that may be required.
Who can carry out maintenance and inspection
work?
» Normal maintenance work may be carried out by
operational personnel.

6.3 Explanations on recurrent checks

and inspections

The CEMO KS-Mobil 90 l and 200 l must be
inspected by an officially recognised expert**
accordance with ADR 6.5.4.4.1 a) at intervals of not
more than 5 years . This inspection must check
conformity to type, including the labelling as well as
the internal and external condition and the correct
operation of the operating equipment, and must
satisfy the responsible authority.
The tank must also be inspected by an expert* in
accordance with ADR 6.5.4.4.1 b) at intervals of at
most two and a half years . This inspection must
check the external condition and correct operation
of the operating equipment, and must satisfy the
responsible authority.
In accordance with ADR 6.5.4.4.2, all metal IBCs for
transporting liquid substances must be subjected to
an initial inspection (i.e. before the IBC is used for
transportation for the first time) following repair and
leak testing at intervals of at most two and a half
years.
* Experts are specialists. They are able to assess the
operational safety condition of equipment by virtue of
their training and experience.
** Officially recognised experts are specially trained,
officially recognised experts. Officially recognised
experts have the task of testing facilities, technical
devices and equipment at set intervals and issuing a
report of their findings.
