Safety notes for side airbag systems
Death or serious injury
Do not perform repairs, adjustments
or modifications to the side airbag
system or its individual parts.
Only trained
perform work on the side airbag
system. For this reason, we strongly
recommend contacting a specialist
company in such cases. This is
especially important for deactivation
of the side airbag, installation work on
the side airbag systems or seat
covers.
Do not attach beverage holders or other
accessories, which could impede unfolding
of the side airbag, near the door and seat.
Please observe the information of your
vehicle's operating instructions, paying
special attention to information regarding:
functions and method of operation of
–
each of the side airbag check lamps
triggering the side airbag system
–
repair, maintenance and special notes
–
side airbag deactivation (and other
–
systems affected by this, such as belt
tensioners, head airbags and passenger
airbags)
the transportation of child seats
–
distances to front airbags, belt path and
–
seat position

Special safety notes for RECARO seats
with an integrated side airbag
The side airbag is located in the side of the
backrest facing the door. Its location is
marked "Airbag".
Sitting securely
Side airbags are not a replacement for
safety belts and can only provide additional
protection when you
adjust your seat properly (see Pages 29
–
and 30)
sit as evenly and upright as possible
–
do not lean against the door while driving
–
(considerable risk of injury would be
present when the side airbag unfolds)
Unfolding of the side airbag occurs in
fractions of a second at a high speed.
Despite optimum setting for unfolding of the
side airbag, heavy friction between your
body and the side airbag will occur. For this
reason, we strongly recommend wearing
suitable clothing in the area of possible
contact with the side airbag (arm, chest and
shoulder area).

Seats with deployed side airbags may
