3. Align the setting device using the vertical adjusting
mechanism. To do so, turn the knurled screw (Fig. 15,
Pos. 2) and check the alignment by means of the spirit
level which is attached to the setting device (Fig. 15,
Pos. 3). Take care to always position the spirit level
precisely in the central position.

The alignment procedure must be carried out each
time the setting device is repositioned. This compen-
sates for any irregularities in the area of the rail.
4. Fasten the KDS quick-change clamp to the rear left-hand
wheel. Insert the axle of the wheel laser into the socket
of the KDS quick-change clamp. Align the wheel laser
so that it is as horizontal as possible(see Fig. 16), and
secure it to the KDS quick-change clamp by means of
the setscrew.

5. Now press the KDS quick-change clamp with wheel
laser downwards to optimize the holding play.

7.3.1
1. Switch on the laser.

2. Unscrew the setscrew of the horizontal positioning
device. Move the mirror until the laser beam is reflected
onto the vertical line on the projection surface of the
wheel laser.
3. Once the mirror is correctly positioned, fix the posi-
tioning device in place once more using the setscrew.
4. Read the value of the horizontal position on the "H"
scale (see Fig. 17) and enter this value in the BMW
diagnosis system.
