Use
Compressed oxygen cylinders made of carbon fibre reinforced plastic
can develop cracks in the paint coating at the cylinder neck or base
when the cylinders are being filled. This is due to the varying distention
of the composite material on the shell and at the cylinder neck/base.
This does not impair the operational safety of the compressed oxygen
cylinders.
3.2.2
Installing the compressed oxygen cylinder
1. Make sure the cylinder valve is closed.
2. Remove the lock nut from the valve
outlet.
3. Place
the
compressed
cylinder at the designated position
in
the
closed-circuit
apparatus; secure and connect it
4. Carry out a high-pressure leak test
in accordance with the Instructions
for
Use
for
the
closed-circuit
breathing apparatus.

CAUTION
!
Risk of corrosion!
Make sure the valve is closed. Otherwise moisture can get

contamination or corrosion.
3.4.2
Checking the compressed oxygen cylinder
If the compressed oxygen cylinder has come into contact with
corrosive media (e. g. acid), it has to be depressurised and Dräger
must be consulted to clarify the subsequent course of action.
If the compressed oxygen cylinder had to withstand a heavy
impact because it was, e.g. dropped, then it must be
depressurised and sent to Dräger for assessment.
Compressed oxygen cylinders must be discarded in the following
cases:
The
compressed
deformations such as dents in the material, grooves or pulping
that are longer than 20 mm or deeper than 0.25 mm.
The compressed oxygen cylinder shows signs of the
paintwork or composite material flaking or blistering or other
structural damage.
The compressed oxygen cylinder shows signs of abrasive
wear.
