Exchanging the toothed belt

All linear units of the WIESEL SPEEDLine
according to definition. In case the toothed belt must be exchanged, make sure that the new
toothed belt is preloaded accordingly. In order to check the preloading, the manufacturer will
use a specific frequency meter. In case such is not available, proceed as follows:
In order to exchange the toothed belt and as a matter of principle, the drive motor must be
disassembled or at least disconnected and a possibly existing brake released.
8.3.1 WIESEL SPEEDLine
Disassembly
1. Measure distance between axis of tension bearing housing and aluminium tubular
section at both ends and note value.
2. Loosen lateral threaded studs on both sides of tension bearing housing by turning them
a couple of times.
3. Unload toothed belt by loosening clamping screws.
4. Disassemble cover of sliding carriage.
5. Pull out guide rails by raising them and loosen toothed belt from toothing with adapter.
6. Attach suitable auxiliary ribbon (ex: plastic ribbon) with adhesive tape to one end of
toothed belt. Pull other end of toothed belt out of linear axis and remove from ribbon.
Determine overall length of toothed belt.
Assembly
1. Cut new toothed belt exactly to determined length of disassembled toothed belt.
2. Attach new toothed belt - toothing down - on auxiliary ribbon and pull through linear axis.
3. Put both ends of toothed belt into toothing of adapter and lock into place.
4. Put guide rails on both ends of back of toothed belt. Slip cover of sliding carriage on
adapter, fasten and lock guide rails with threaded stud.
5. Evenly tighten the two clamping screws on tension bearing housing until position
determined during disassembly is reached.
6. In order to check preloading, use a specific frequency meter. In case such a frequency
meter is required, please contact Tollo service. Make sure to adjust the same position
on both ends in order to prevent a single-sided movement of toothed belt (if necessary,
manually move the sliding carriage and then check!).
7. Attach both clamping screws with lateral threaded studs.
