Basic operation

This section describes the basic operation of your radio,
including turning the radio on and off, adjusting volume,
selecting channels, making calls and receiving calls.

Turning the radio on and off

A long press of the on/off key
When the radio is first turned on, the red, green and orange
LEDs flash briefly and the radio gives two short beeps.

Unlocking the radio

You may need to enter a personal identification number (PIN)
before you can use your radio. If the display shows either — or
—— after power-up, enter your assigned PIN.
Once you have entered your PIN correctly, the radio sounds two
short beeps and normal operation is now possible.
If you do not know your PIN or if your radio gives a long,
low-pitched beep, consult your radio provider or administrator.

Adjusting the volume

Rotate the volume control clockwise to increase the speaker
volume and counterclockwise to decrease the volume. The
volume control also changes the volume level of the radio's
audible indicators.

Selecting a channel or group

Use the channel selection keys
the channel list until the channel or group you want is
displayed. A group can be either a scan group (see "Scanning"
on page 29) or a voting group (see "Voting" on page 29).
