5. Buckling Up The Child (with height adjustment of the seat belts)
• The height of the shoulder belts together with the headrest can be adjusted to the height of your child.
When the shell is used in the forward-facing configuration, the shoulder belts should ideally run from
the shoulders of your child towards the rear at the height of the shoulders or slightly above.
• IMPORTANT: When the shell is used in the forward-facing configuration, the lower edge of the head-
rest should ideally rest approximately 2-fingers-width above the shoulder of the child (Fig. 12).
• IMPORTANT: When the shell is used in the rear-facing configuration, the shoulder belts should run
along the height of the shoulders or slightly below the height of the shoulders of the child.
Height adjustment of the headrest:
• To unlock the locking mechanism, pull the headrest adjustment lever (16) located on the headrest
upwards (Fig. 13).
• Now, push the headrest into the desired position and allow the locking mechanism to lock (Fig. 14).
• Ensure proper locking by pushing the headrest downwards.
• It may be necessary to loosen the belt first.
• To loosen the belt, actuate the belt adjustment button (19) and pull the shoulder belts forward as
shown (Fig. 15).
• Open the belt lock (8) by pushing the red button, and pull out the belt tongues in an upward direction
(Fig. 16).
• Place the belts outward (Fig. 17).
• Rotate the shell to the side (see Chapter 6).
• Seat your child in the child car seat. When buckling on the belts, make sure that you do not twist them
(Fig. 18).
• Join the belt tongues and push them into the belt lock (8) together. Ensure they lock in audibly (Fig. 19).
• Tighten the seat belt by pulling on the adjustment strap (10) (Fig. 20). The tighter the belt is strapped
across your child, the safer it will be in the child car seat. It is therefore recommended to take of thick
jackets or sweaters when in the child car seat.
• IMPORTANT: Pay particular attention to the lap belts being fastened tightly, crossing the pelvis at the
lowest possible point. Once your child is buckled in, rotate the seat shell back into the driving position.
• IMPORTANT! Until your child reaches a body height of approx. 80 cm and a weight of approx. 11 kg
you must use the provided seat insert. (Fig. 21).
• For a more customised adjustment for your child, you can remove the side panels of the seat insert. To
do so, open the press studs on the rear.
• To remove the seat insert (12), open the belt lock (8) and place the belts outward. The, remove the seat
insert (Fig. 22). Store the seat insert in a dry and dust-protected place, in case you may want to use it
later.
6. Front-facing/Rear-facing
• In order to facilitate buckling in, the seat shell of the RECARO SALIA can be rotated towards the door
(Fig. 23).
• To unlock the seat rotation, push the button at the centre of the rotation unlocking lever (13) down-
wards first, and then pull the unlocking lever (13) outwards (Fig. 24). You can now rotate the seat shell
to the side.
• Once your child is buckled in, rotate the seat shell back into the desired (front- or rear-facing) position
(Fig. 25).
• Make sure the seat shell locks into place securely.
• IMPORTANT: The rotation indicator must switch to green (Fig. 26).
• We recommend to transport your child in the rear-facing position for as long as possible.
• From age 15 months on, it is also permitted to transport your child in the forward-facing position
(Fig. 27).
