Before use

Strictly follow OSHA 1910.134 and other valid national regulations
for the use of respiratory equipment.
Before using the facepiece for the first time, perform a leak test
(see Chapter 4.3 on Page 177).
3.1.1
Selecting the correct facepiece size
The facepiece bodies are available in sizes S, M, L, nose cups in sizes
1, 2, 3 and head harnesses in sizes M/L and S. In most cases, the
standard size M2 is used. If using size M2 cannot ensure sufficient leak
tightness, another size combination must be used.

Each user must be provided with a facepiece of suitable size.
Prior to use, always make sure that the facepiece is leaktight.
The face seal between head and facepiece body must be free
of hair and foreign substances which could cause leakages.
Spectacle wearers should wear facepiece spectacles.
3.1.2
Preparing the facepiece for use
1. Install the facepiece spectacles if necessary.
2. If fitted, remove the protective film from the visor.
3. Open the head harness as far as possible.
4. Put the neck strap around the neck and fasten the facepiece in the
standby position using the carrying strap (see Figure B on
Page 182).

Facepiece with RA-type connector
Choose either method A or method B to check tight fit of the facepiece.
Method A allows you to keep the canister connected to the facepiece.
When you use method B, the canister is not connected. As a result,
method B does not check the tight fit between facepiece and canister.
Method A
1. Screw the canister into the connector until it is tightly seated. Have
2. Close the canister opening with the palm of your hand.
3. Inhale, then hold your breath. No entry of air should be perceived,
4. Repeat the fit test twice.

Donning the facepiece
