Connecting for digital audio

This system has optical-type digital inputs. Use
these to connect external components, such
as your digital TV, MD or CD recorder.
For the connection diagram, see 1 on page 42.
Connect the DIGITAL AUDIO IN (LINE1)
jack to the digital output of an external
playback component.
These include digital components such as a
digital TV, an MD player, digital satellite, or a
game system.
DCS-FS30 only:
This system has an optical-type digital output
for providing surround playback.
For the connection diagram, see 5 on page 42.
Connect the DIGITAL AUDIO OUT jack
to the digital input on your multichannel
AV receiver.
Connecting an analog audio
component
You can use the ANALOG AUDIO IN (LINE 2)
jacks to connect an analog audio component,
such as a tape player.
For the connection diagram, see 2 on page 42.
Connect the ANALOG AUDIO IN (LINE 2)
jacks to the analog outputs of an external
playback component.
Connect using RCA pin-plug stereo cables.

Using the SCART AV output

The SCART output should give you better
picture quality than the standard composite
video output. The SCART AV connector
functions as both a video and audio output.
Note
1 SCART cables are available in several configurations. Make sure that the one you get will work with this system and your TV/
monitor (see SCART pin assignment below).
2 • When the Line Output is switched to LT/RT, the sound function will be fixed at the current setting and cannot be changed.
The display will briefly flash LINE OUT if an attempt is made to use a prohibited function.
• When the Line Output is to LO/RO, the audio from the SCART output may be interrupted, depending on the operation.
• When using DTS multi-channel sound sources, output is in LO/RO.
Use a commercially available SCART cable
to connect the AV CONNECTOR (LINE 3) to
your TV.
