Mounting the rail
! Check that the supporting surface is sufficiently even before
mounting the rail.
Secure the rail to the floor of the workshop using the supplied
hexagon screws and plugs.
! When fixing the rail, ensure that plugs are inserted straight in
order to avoid subjecting the rail to tension.
Next, check the straightness of the rail in the following way:
– Place the alignment angle on the right-hand end of the rail.
– Position the coarse setting device on the rail before the right-
hand end.
– Switch on the laser.
Never look directly at the source of the beam!
– Align the coarse setting device in such a way that the laser
beam hits the vertical slot of the alignment angle on both sides
of the rail.
– Move the alignment angle along the rail and check that the point
of the laser beam remains visible to the right and left of the slot
in the angle along the entire length of the rail. The maximum
allowable deviation for the straightness of the rail is 0.6 mm!
i If the laser beam is no longer visible to the left or right of the
slot in the alignment angle, this indicates that the straight-
ness of the rail deviates beyond the maximum allowable limit.
– In the above case, please align the rail as necessary. To do so,
release the hexagon screw(s), then re-tighten the rail and check
once more with the alignment angle.
– If, after this, the rail is still misaligned through excessive tension,
new holes must be drilled for the plugs.
i Please mark the floor as appropriate to indicate the area
for the vehicle, in order to ensure the correct distance from
the rail. Bear in mind that the mirror must be at a distance
of 120 cm +/- 5 cm from the front edge of the ACC sensor.
