a. general operation
1. Check the product, its power cord and plug as well as accessories for damage
before each use. Do not use the product if it is damaged or shows wear.

Keep in mind that there are buried objects hidden in every household!
!
Ensure that there are no gas, water or power lines hidden in the
working area that may be hit before operation – danger of electrical
shock and serious damage to people and property! Use a suitable

WARNING
b. Drilling
1. When attempting to drill a large diameter hole, it is sometimes best to start
with a smaller drill bit then work up to the required size. This prevents
overloading the drill.
2. Remember to use a "wood-pecker" action on deep holes to allow the swarf to
be ejected from the hole.
3. If the drill bit snags, switch off immediately to prevent permanent damage to
the drill.
4. Try running the drill in reverse to remove the bit.
5. Always keep the drill in line with the hole.
6. Ideally, the drill bit should enter at right angles to the work. If the angle is
changed during drilling, this could cause the bit to snap off blocking the hole
and perhaps causing injury.
7. Reduce pressure as the drill is about to break through the item being drilled.
Don't force the drill, and let it work at its own pace.
8. Keep the drill bit sharp.
c. Drilling into wood
1. For maximum performance when drilling larger holes, use auger bits or
spade bits for wood drilling.
2. Set the tool to the drill mode.
3. Begin drilling at a very low speed to prevent the bit from slipping off the
starting point. Increase the speed as the drill bit bites into the wood.
4. When drilling through holes, place a block of wood behind the work piece to
prevent ragged or splintered edges on the exit of the hole.
d. Drilling into plastic and metal
1. For maximum performance, use HSS drill bits for metal drilling.
2. Set the tool to the drill mode.
3. Mark off the centre of the hole using a centre punch.
4. Use a suitable lubricant for the material you are working on.
5. Begin drilling at a very low speed to prevent the bit from slipping off the
starting point.
