The speed of the T25 basic dispersion unit set by using the dif-
ferently adjusting wheel. In order to measure the speed of the
dispersion unit an IKA DZM control tachometer may be connec-
ted (cf. Fig. 1) after removal of the cover.

Assembly of boom and stand

Overview (Figs. 1)
The extension arm is mounted as follows:
• insert extension arm (1) into flange;
• screw in the cylinder head screw (2);
• firmly tighten cylinder head screw (2) using the SW4 right
angled screwdriver.
Vibrations may loosen the cylinder head screw. Therefore, for
your own safety, periodically check that the extension arm is
secure. If necessary, retighten the cylinder head screw.
To ensure safe operation the driving units are fastened to the R
1826 (8) stand base by means of a cross sleeve (7).
In order to enhance the stability of the mechanical arrangement,
the driving units have to be mounted as close as possible to the
stand pillar.

Working with the unit

Overview (Fig. 1)
Check that the voltage listed on the designation plate matches the
mains voltage. Also pay attention to the ambient conditions listed
in the technical data. The socket used must be fused to 16A.
The dispersion tool (9) is inserted into the driving unit until it
stops and is then fixed by using the hand screw (10). The
T25 1096EU
distance between the dispersion tool and the vessel bottom
should not be less than 10 mm. The filling level of the medium
may not be less than about 55 mm.
If these conditions are met the unit is ready for service when the
mains plug has been plugged in. If this is not the case, safe
operation cannot be guaranteed and the unit may be damaged.
The entire unit may also be arranged somewhat off centre in
order to avoid any undesired air admission caused by the strong
rotational turbulence.
The adjustment wheel (4) is set at the lowest speed before the
unit is switched on. The speed which is set may be read by com-
paring the colors on the scale (4) and the adjustment wheel.
By using the adjustment wheel (4) the speed may be infinitely
varied to meet the requirements of the medium to be processed.
The no-load speed of the T25 driving unit may be set between
6,500 and 24,000 1/min.
The driving unit is switched on by means of the sliding switch
(6).

Dispersion tools: General notes

Overview (Fig. 3), (Fig. 4), (Fig. 5)
A dispersion tool consists of a shaft and a generator (dispersion head)
Shaft:
The shaft mainly consists of the shaft tube, the rotary shaft, the
bearing and the shaft seal. There are three types of shaft for the
T25basic:
S 25 N - / S 25 NK - / S 25 KR - / S 25 KV - / S 25 KV-..-IL
The shaft cannot be used alone. Only combinations of shaft and
generator can be used for working with the medium. The shaft is
supplied with a cap (remove before use). Use this cap to protect
shaft tubes from damage when not in service.
