5. Prepare a disinfecting solution consisting of water and a
disinfecting agent.
6. Place all parts that need to be disinfected into the disinfectant bath.
7. Thoroughly rinse all parts under running water.
8. Dry all parts in the air or in a drying cabinet (max. temperature:
140 °F/60 °C). Do not expose to direct sunlight. Do not shake the
facepiece in order to remove water.
9. Mount the accessories if necessary.
5.2.2

Alternative cleaning and disinfecting procedure

1. Remove any accessories from the facepiece and clean them
separately. (Exception: Some communication units can remain
fitted to the facepiece. Please refer to the corresponding
instructions for use.)
2. Prepare a solution containing water and a combined cleaning and
disinfecting agent.
3. Immerse the facepiece in the solution. Make sure that all parts are
wetted.
4. Thoroughly rinse all parts under running water.
5. Dry all parts in the air or in a drying cabinet (max. temperature:
140 °F/60 °C). Do not expose to direct sunlight. Do not shake the
facepiece in order to remove water.
6. Mount the accessories if necessary.

Maintenance work

Check all parts for deformation and damage and replace them if
necessary.
After maintenance work and/or replacement of components again
check the leak tightness (see section 5.4 on page 11).
5.3.1
Replacing the visor (figure F on page 3)
1. Remove the screw from the flap and take off the flap.
2. Unhook the cap from the visor frame (figure F1-1) on both sides.
3. Use your thumb to press against the bottom part of the cap, then
remove the cap from the fastening lugs (figure F1-2).
4. Pull the cap upwards and away from the facepiece.

5. Remove the screws of the visor frame (figure F2).
6. Spread the frame apart, tilt it towards the front and pull apart
sideways.
7. Detach the visor from the rubber frame.
8. Moisten either the facepiece body or the visor frame to facilitate
the assembly.
9. Insert the new visor centered by aligning it to the center marking
on the visor and form-fitting in the facepiece body.
10. Apply pressure onto the visor frame until it snaps into place, then
tighten with new self-locking screws until there is no more gap.
11. Put the cap onto the connector, lock it into place on the fastening
lugs and hook it into the visor frame.
12. Close the flap and fasten the screw.
5.3.2
Replacing the nose cup (figures on page 3)
1. Remove the funnel from the speech diaphragm groove.
2. Take hold of the nose cup at the tip of the nose, then release it off
the pin and out of the speech diaphragm groove (figure G).
3. Put the new nose cup onto the pin to center it.
4. Press the ring of the nose cup into the corresponding speech
diaphragm groove (figure H, step 1) - at first at the bottom and
then all around the speech diaphragm.
5. Orient the marking on the funnel to the top and press the funnel into
the corresponding speech diaphragm groove (figure H, step 2).
5.3.3

Replacing O-ring and speech diaphragm

1. Remove both funnel and nose cup.
2. Unscrew the speech diaphragm using the special tool and remove
it.
3. Visually inspect speech diaphragm and O-ring and replace if
necessary.
4. Insert O-ring, then carefully screw in speech diaphragm
(recommended torque: 2.95 ±0.37 ft lb/400 ±50 Ncm). Do not
damage the diaphragm.
5. Attach both nose cup and funnel.
