14 Assembling the Pole Pruner
To install the pole pruner:

► Align the drive tube (1) as shown.
► Push the drive tube (1) into the clamp (3) so that the
recesses (5 and 6) align.
► Push the drive tube (1) into the clamp (3) as far as it will
go, so that the clamp (3) lies over the front handle (7) and
make sure that the cable (2) is not damaged.
► Tighten the screw (4).
The drive tube need not be removed again.

14.2 Cutting Attachment

WARNING
If non-matching components are used, the cutting
attachment will be damaged beyond repair after a short
period of operation, and the chain could de-rail, resulting in
serious or fatal personal injury.
A cutting attachment consists of the chain, guide bar and
chain sprocket.

– The pitch (t) of the chain (1), must match the pitch of the
chain sprocket.
– The drive link gauge (2) of the chain must match the
groove width of the guide bar (3).

14.3.1 Mounting the Guide Bar and Chain
WARNING
Make sure the battery is removed before starting assembly.
Never operate your pole pruner without a properly mounted
guide bar and chain, @ 6.5. Use only guide bar and chain
combinations expressly recommended or approved by
STIHL, @ 6.4.
WARNING
The chain has many sharp cutters. If they contact your flesh,
they will cut you, even if the chain is not moving, @ 6.4.
Always wear heavy-duty work gloves when mounting or
otherwise handling the chain, @ 6.3.
To mount the guide bar and chain:
► Switch off the pole pruner, @ 16.2.
► Remove the battery, @ 15.2.
