Safety Controller SK 35
Testing
For a standard-conformance of the safety system, the machinery control system must perform a
safety system test prior to each dangerous movement or in a non-dangerous phase/movement of
the machine. The testing guarantees that the safety controller works correctly. After applying the test
signal, both output contacts of the SK 35 must open. This change of the output switch status must
be evaluated by the machinery control system. In the correct case of testing the machinery control
system thereupon starts the movement or initiates the next working step of the machine, otherwise
the machine control system must indicate an error message and turn the power operated parts of the
machine off. If an error in the safety system is recognized by the machinery control system, a safe
condition must remain maintained by the machinery control system until the error is fixed.
If only one channel is used, the other output might not be controlled.
The SK 35 active input state can be selected with the DIP switch S1. If the DIP switch S1 is in position
"Off" the testing will be performed when the specified voltage is applied to the clamps T1,T2 and in
position "On" if the voltage is not applied.

The requirements for category 2 according to EN 954-1"safety related parts of control
systems" are only fulfilled by testing the SK 35 through the machinery control system.
The operation or the installation of the safety controller SK 35 without testing does
not fulfil any safety requirements
