Initial Operation

Requirements
If a voltage supply of 24V AC/DC at clamps B1, B2 is used, it must fulfil the requirements for the
functional safe voltage with a safe separation.
Cables outside the cabinet must be isolated accordingly.

Electrical Connection

Connect a 24V AC/DC voltage supply to the clamps B1, B2 or a 230V AC (115V AC for SK 35-82
version) voltage supply to the clamps A1, A2
Connect the PSSs to the clamps X1, X2 and Y1, Y2 . If a channel is not used it also has to be
terminated with a 8,2 kΩ resistor. .
Connect the safety relay outputs to the clamps 13, 14 (CH 1) and 23, 24 (CH2).
Connect the test-signal, which is provided by the machinery control system, to the clamps
T1, T2 and select the active input state by using the S1 DIP switch.
For man. reset operating mode: The man. reset push-button is to be connected to the clamps
Z1, Z2 and the man. reset operating mode must be selected at the DIP-switch S2.
Both safety output circuits are not separated from each other according to SELV criteria.
Therefore the applying of a 230V/115V main voltage to the first output and the applying of
a SELV voltage to the second output is not permitted. The supply voltage at the clamps
B1, B2 is not galvanically separated from the PSS inputs.
After the successful initial operation, the safety outputs 13, 14 and 23, 24 are activated (relay con-
tact closed). Operating any of the PSSs causes the respective opening of the relay output contact
13, 14 and/or 23, 24.
Connection of several PSS to one PSS input channel
To the respective PSS inputs (X1,X2 and Y1,Y2) of the SK 35 one or more PSS can be connected.
For this, the individual PSSs have to be connected according to figure 1.
To each PSS input it is possible to switch 5 PSS in series. The maximum cable length for each
channel can be up to 25m.
Before connecting the PSSs, which are switched in series, to the safety input of the SK 35, it is
recommended to measure the resistance value of the interconnection.
