Storing phone numbers
You hear five short error
beeps and cannot store a
memory dialing number.

General
• Make sure you follow the procedure in storing the number
correctly (page 21).
• Make sure the number (including the tone and pause digits, if used)
is not longer than 16 digits.
• Make sure you subscribe to Caller ID service or Caller name service
with your telephone company.
• Caller ID service may not work when the phone is connected to a
Private Branch Exchange (PBX).
• The call is made through company which does not offer Caller ID
service. "OUT OF AREA" appears on the display (page 24).
• You received a call which was "blocked". "PRIVATE" appears on
the display (page 24).
• During a power interruption , Caller ID service will not be offered
(page 24).
• Move the handset closer to the base unit.
• Extend the antenna of the base unit vertically.
• Place the base unit away from noise sources (page 8).
• Make sure you subscribe to Caller ID service and also "call
waiting" service with a telephone company which offers Caller ID
service combined with "call waiting" service (page 30).
• Make sure the CIDCW function is ON (page 30).
• Make sure nobody is talking on another phone on the same
telephone line.
• During a power interruption , Caller ID with call waiting service
will not be offered (page 30).
• Make sure you enter your area code correctly (page 16).
• This function may not work when the phone is connected to a
Private Branch Exchange (PBX).
• If the AC power adaptor is disconnected, the battery in the base
unit will back up the Caller ID memory (for about 24 hours with the
battery fully charged).
• If the call is from an office which uses multiple lines, the phone
number may not match the number you put in memory.
• Make sure you enter your area code correctly (page 16).
