Please note: check that the visible colour on the spring is in accor-
dance with the intended flexion/extension force direction. Place the
force output indicator disc with the same colour as the spring visible
upwards on the spring cassette, but in such a way that the number 0 is
aligned with the proximal force output indicator mark ( 6 ) on the brake
housing of the system joint. Then insert the washer and housing and
secure with the central housing screw. Then replace the spring cassette
and release the joint.
Locking the joint
In order to more easily position and remove the orthotics, the joint
can be locked at virtually each desired angle. The release and locking
mechanism is located to the side of the lower joint half. In order to lock
the joint, the catch should be pushed forward/up.
Setting flexion and extension stops
To ensure correct operation, it is mandatory to set the flexion and ex-
tension stops. Failure to do so may result in excessive strain on the joint.
There are two screws at the back of the functional MultiMotion joint to
set the range of motion. The standard stop setting in both functional
joints is 0° flexion and 95° extension. With the 'Medium' model, the stops
can be moved in 15° increments and with the 'Large' model in 12° incre-
ments. Use the supplied roundhead screwdriver to loosen the flexion
and extension screws, move them as needed and then retighten them.
Setting the spring tension
On both sides of the system joint, there is an Allen wrench with which
the spring tension can be adjusted.

CAUTION
BEWARE OF RISKS OF INJURY BEFORE UNLOCKING THE JOINT. THE SET
SPRING TENSION MUST BE TAKEN INTO ACCOUNT. IF THIS IS HIGH, IT
IS ADVISABLE TO HAVE A CARER ASSIST WITH UNLOCKING IN ORDER
TO GRADUALLY GUIDE THE ORTHOTICS TOWARDS THE SET FLEXION
OR EXTENSION FORCE.
