Mounting the joint on system bars
To mount the bars on the modular system joint, place the bars - with
the countersinks facing down - over the bushings of the joint. Fasten
the bars with the supplied screws and a PH-2 screwdriver and secure
them with Loctite 243.
Aligning the joint
In order for the joints to function correctly, it is important that the sys-
tem joint and the carriage are aligned correctly one to another, and are
mounted on an orthotics construction with sufficient torsion rigidity.
During orthotic production, use the Basic Alignment T-Bar (AK-100) +
MultiMotion alignment unit (AK-102).
Bending the joint
2
Proximal and distal to the joint are small
notches ( 2 ). The joint bars must be bent
horizontally between these bending points.
Place the joint horizontally with mounted
bar(s) between the bench screw. Do not
use bending irons but push/pull the joint to
the desired angle so that the joint bends on
the line of the notch.
Calibrate joint
This should be done on the plaster positive. To do this, first remove the
spring cassette (see steps 1 & 2 'Changing the direction of force') and
the flexion / extension stops at the rear. Then position the orthotics
on the plaster positive and push the locking / unlocking lever to the
horizontal position to lock the angle adjustment of the orthotics. Then
remove the orthotics from the cast and fit the flexion / extension stops,
adjusted to the set angle.
