Almost all injuries that can occur with a band saw are hand injuries. Generally, the hand comes into contact with
the moving parts of the machine, for example in the case of sudden advance or kick-back of the tool.
The main areas at risk are:
- The workspace;
- The periphery of the moving parts;
- The kick-back area.
The machine has been specially designed to protect areas at risk. Nevertheless, the residual risks listed below
remain:
Risk of injury or health by:
- The work of parts with small size or length;
- Tool cutting edges in poor condition;
- Tools not characterized before and after work;
- The kick-back of the piece;
- The ejection of chips or falls;
- Cutting tools when changing tools (risk of cutting);
- The unexpected contact of the hand or other part of the frame with the rotating tool;
- Prolonged exposure to noise;
- Permanent exposure to dust;
- Jamming of fingers;
- The tilting of the part in case of insufficient support;
- Human failure (eg by excessive body fatigue, stressful situations ...).
Each machine has residual risks. It is therefore imperative to always be vigilant during work.
CAUTION:
To prevent accidents, make sure to turn the switch off and to disconnect the plug from the power
receptacle.
1. Carrying/Installing the machine (Fig 1 & 2)
It is essential to determinate size measurements and placement in advance in order to ensure safe placement,
running, emergency actions within the surrounding environment.
- Use suitable bolts M8 (not provided) to fix the machine to a workbench or worktop at the 4 threaded mounting
holes under the base (1).
You can also screw the 4 rubber feet (14) under the base (Fig 1).
- Once the machine is secured, pull the bow safety clamp (2) down (Fig 2) and lift the bow using the main handle
(6).
- To carry the machine, fasten the bow in its end position using the safety clamp (2), make sure it is properly
fastened, then grasp the center of the bow and lift the machine carefully.
CAUTION:
- Check that all moving parts of the machine are secured before lifting and moving it.
- Never move the machine if a workpiece is in the vise, fixed or not.
2. Installing the length stop (Fig 3)
- Install one of the rods in the hole on the base (1) and tighten the headless screw using the 4mm hex wrench.
- Loose the knob and slide the 2
- Tighten the knob securely.
3. Installing/changing the blade (Fig 4 to 7)
CAUTION:
This machine is designed and intended for use with blades that are 13mm wide by 0.65mm thick by 1140mm
long. Use of blades with different specifications may cause inferior performance.
CAUTION:
- The blade can become very hot during working process. Before replacing, allow the blade to coll down.
- Ware protective gloves when changing the tool!
