5) Service
a) Have your power tool serviced by a qualified repair person using only identical replacement parts. This
will ensure that the safety of the power tool is maintained.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS FOR METAL BAND SAWS
- Keep machine guards in place at all times when the machine is in use. If removed for maintenance purposes, use
extreme caution and replace the guards immediately.
- Do not over reach. Maintain a balanced stance at all times so that you do not fall or lean against blades or other
moving parts.
- Replace warning labels if they become obscured or removed.
- Give your work undivided attention. Looking around, carrying on a conversation and "horse-play" are careless
acts that can result in serious injury. Never leave tool running unattended. Turn power off. Don't leave tool until it
comes to a complete stop.
- Always keep hands and fingers away from the blade when the machine is running.
- Never hold the material with the saw in the horizontal position. Always use the vise and clamp it securely.
- Read and understand warnings posted on the machine.
- Keep the blade guard and wheel covers in place and in working order.
- Always provide adequate support for long and heavy material.
- Never clean the saw blade or band wheel of a band saw using a hand-held brush or scraper whilst the saw blade
is in motion.
- Adjust and position the blade guide arm before starting the cut. Keep blade guide arm tight. A loose blade guide
arm will affect sawing accuracy. Make sure that blade tension and blade tacking are properly adjusted. Recheck
blade tension after initial cut with a new blade. To prolong blade life always release blade tension at the end of
each workday. Make sure blade speed is set correctly for material being cut.
- Stop the machine before removing work pieces.
- Make all adjustments with the power off. Before any maintenance the power plug has to be removed from the
supply socket.
- Disconnect machine from power source when making repairs. Shut off power and clean the blade saw and work
area before leaving the machine. Clear away the waste residue so as to avoid accidental injury after working.
PRIOR TO OPERATION: RISK OF ELECTRIC SHOCK
CAUTION:
Failure to comply with the following instructions will lead to serious injury or death by electrocution.
- Before use, check the mains and extension cables for damages. Pay attention to age and state.
- Never operate the machine in a damp or wet environment. Never work in the rain.
- Make sure the connection cable is always kept out of the working range of the machine. Make sure that cables
always lead away from the rear of the machine.
- The machine may only be connected to a socket that is correctly installed and grounded.
- The fuse must be a residual current circuit-breaker with a measured residual current of no more than 30 mA.
- Make sure that the power supply corresponds with the connection specifications of the machine before it is
connected.
- The machine may only be used within the specified limitations for voltage, power and nominal rotation speed (see
nameplate).
- If required, only use extension cords that are appropriate for both the machine and the environment. If in doubt,
ask an expert in electrical matters.
- Never operate the machine in flammable or explosive environments.
- If the power cable is damaged, immediately pull out the plug. Never use the machine if the power cable is
damaged.
- When working with the machine do not touch grounded objects (radiators, water pipes etc.).
- If the machine is not in use make sure the plug is pulled out.
- Make sure that the machine is switched off before plugging in the mains cable.
- Make sure that the machine is switched off before unplugging it.
- Disconnect the power supply before transporting the machine.
