EPAC ELECTRICALLY POWER ASSISTED CYCLE EPAC
EPAC is the abbreviation adopted by the European Standards.
This abbreviation comes from the initials "Electrically Power Assisted Cycle" that currently is translated in Italian as Pedal-Assisted
Electric Bicycle.
In accordance with the European Directive 2002/24/EC in force, to be classi¿ ed as EPAC, electric bicycles must conform substantially
to the following law requirements:
1. A maximum continuous nominal power output of the electric motor of 0.25 KW.
2. Interruption of the electrical propulsion assistance of the motor when the rider stops pedalling.
3 Progressive reduction of the motor assistance as the speed increases with a complete removal of the assistance on reaching the
limited speed of 25 km/h.
