2. Install the spark plug and tighten it with a torque
wrench to 15 ft-lb (20 N-m).
3. Connect the wire to the spark plug.
4. Test the mower safety system; refer to Testing the
Mower Safety System.
Testing the Mower Safety
System
1. Move the mower to a level surface.
2. Stop the engine on the mower and wait for all
moving parts to stop.
3. If the grass bag is not attached to the mower, remove
the discharge plug and install the grass bag.
4. Start the engine; refer to Starting the Engine in your
Operator's Manual.
5. While the engine is running, lift up the upper right
rear corner of the grass bag until the wire bag frame
at the upper right front of the grass bag is completely
out of the right-hand slot (Figure 56). The engine
should stop.
Note: The right-hand slot houses a safety interlock
switch.
Important: Do not step outside the operating
position while performing this step.

6. If the engine does not stop when you perform this
test, release the control bar on the handle to stop the
engine, wait for all moving parts to stop, and take
your mower to an Authorized Toro Dealer to have
the safety system properly repaired.
