2.7 Personal protective equipment

• Appropriate protective clothing is to be worn when handling the product (e.g.
safety shoes, close-fi tting clothing, a hair net for long, loose hair).
As the system user or operator, you are personally responsible for ensuring the use
of appropriate protective equipment when the product is used.
All components of the personal protective equipment must be intact.

2.8 Operator's obligations

• Before the initial start-up or re-commissioning of a case lifter, carry out a risk
assessment according to occupational safety law (D), or general guidelines
89/391/EWG.
• Before the initial start-up or re-commissioning of a case lifter, and then regularly,
carry out electrical and safety engineering acceptance of the arrangement of the
product and of the installation location by the relevant qualifi ed operative.
• Provide safety-related instructions to the operating personnel before initial start-up
or re-commissioning, and then in regular intervals.

2.9 Safety equipment

Make sure that all the safety equipment which forms part of the product is present,
has been properly installed, and is fully functional. Do not move, bypass or disable
any safety equipment.
