4.2 | Preparation

Put your motorcycle securely on a stand in a well lit place and disconnect the
vehicle battery by disconnecting the earth (ground) lead (black cable). Then
remove the existing tail light and make a note of how the tail and brake lights are
wired.

4.3 | Fitting

Check whether you need to make a new bracket for installing the gazzini LED Tail
Light. It is important to install the light so that it is protected against vibration. If
necessary, use rubber bearings. Make sure that the license plate mounted under
the tail light is well illuminated. The license plate light must not shine backwards
into the following traffic. The license plate can be mounted at an angle of up to
30° from vertical.
Complying with these requirements, the gazzini LED Tail Light must be installed
permanently and securely to the tail of your motorcycle using the two M5 bolts on
the rear of the housing.

4.4 | Electrical connection

Route the cable so that it is protected against chafing, does not kink and cannot
come into contact with any moving parts (tyres, shock absorbers, swing arm
etc.). Connect the black cable of the gazzini LED Tail Light to the minus of the
wiring harness or to earth (ground). Connect the red cable to the brake light
lead of the wiring harness. Connect the yellow cable (tail light) and the white
cable (license plate light) to the tail light lead. For this, you can use Japanese
connectors or small soldered connections protected with an insulation sleeve
(push the heat shrink tubing over the cable, then solder the cable, pull the
heat shrink tubing over the solder and shrink it into place with a hot-air gun).
Connectors must be positioned so that no water can collect in them. Always
make sure that the cables are correctly connected without any risk of short-
circuit. Do not confuse plus and minus, and never use terminal blocks. After
connecting, it is imperative to check that the electrical system is functioning
correctly before you set off.
On vehicles with CAN bus, ABS warning light or other bulb failure
indicator light, there is a possibility of error messages as a result of the
converting the original brake and rear light. If this happens, the
problem can be solved with resistors (use separate resistors for tail
light/license plate light and brake light). The required resistance can be
determined using the following formula:
Required resistance R (in ohms) is equal to the square of the electrical system
voltage divided by the watt difference between the old tail light and the new
gazzini LED Tail Light.
