Commissioning/recommissioning

Make sure to heed and complete the commissioning
protocol (see section 8.2)! This will ensure correct
commissioning of the pump unit and fast and smooth
processing of any service requests.
• Briefly start the pump against the almost closed isolating
valve (open only so far that the air can escape) and compare
the attained delivery head against the manufacturer's
specifications.
• Then open the isolating valve until the operating point is
reached.
• When the values for delivery flow and delivery head are
significantly lower, an incorrect direction of rotation may be
the cause. In such a case, 2 phases of the power cable must
be swapped.
• Normally, the pump reaches its highest pressure with the
isolating valve closed and while rotating in the correct
direction (the pump must not be operated for longer than
3 minutes against the closed isolating valve).
• With newly drilled wells start the pump as described above
and open the isolating valve until half the water volume is
delivered at the operating point. Check the sand contents of
the delivered water. With a sand contents of more than 30 g/
m³, operate the pump at reduced capacity until the sand
contents at least drops below this value. This will prevent
damage to or premature wear of the pump. Contact the
manufacturer if the sand contents remain stable and at a
higher percentage.
4.3.1
Function check
• Check whether the manometer, vacuum meter, ammeter (if
applicable, also the water meter) meet the data in the contract
documents.
• Record the measured values as guide values for subsequent
monitoring.

Decommissioning

4.4.1
Switching off
• If a return-flow valve has not been installed in the pressure
pipe and the non-return valve is locked: close the shut-off
device in the pressure pipe.
• Switch off the pump.
• Shut all additional connections.
4.4.2
Removal
• When the pump is removed and is stored in an environment
where sub-zero temperatures must be expected, the water
must be immediately drained from the motor (unless it is filled
with an anti-freeze agent) to prevent icing up.

5. Maintenance/servicing

5.1

Maintenance and inspections

• Check the current consumption and the capacity at regular
intervals. We recommend to record these values in an
operating journal and to regularly compare them with the
values as per commissioning protocol. We also recommend
to record the operating times of the pump unit in the operating
journal.
• An increased current consumption with a constant capacity, a
significant decrease of the capacity with a reduced current
consumption or irregular operation of the pump with varying
current consumption indicate a malfunction. In these cases,
the pump must be removed and tested (see chapter 6:
Problems).
• Pumps that are operated in stretches of open water, ponds or
pits require regular inspection of the motor surface. Algae,
mud, lime deposits and other deposits are detrimental to the
heat dissipation of the motor.
• When the pump is not operated for a longer period of time, we
recommend to operate the pump for approx. 5 minutes every
two weeks at the maximum (better: every week). This will
prevent the pump rotor from getting stuck due to deposits
such as lime, iron or other substances contained in the liquid.

Notes on disassembly and assembly

Only qualified personnel may disassemble and assemble
the pump as shown in the sectional drawings (refer to
section 7.2). The order of the steps to be carried out for the
disassembly can be derive from the sectional drawings.
