10 Reprocessing, Cleaning, Disinfection and
Sterilization
Implant systems are suitable for machine cleaning / thermal
disinfection. They can be reprocessed with program sequences
that are authorized for surgical instruments. For the cleaning
process observe the instructions by the manufacturers of the
cleaning machines and by the manufacturers of the cleaning
agents. The process including loading must guarantee
sufficient removal of residuals.
WARNING
Risk of infection from unsterile handling!
Improper sterilization and non-sterile handling of the
implant system can entail severe health risks for the
patient.
The operator / user is responsible for cleaning, disinfecting
and sterilizing the implant components. It is essential that
national regulations and restrictions are observed.
Contaminated and / or used implant components must not
be reused and must therefore not be reprocessed.
Sterilization must be done using a validated steam sterilization
method, e. g. according to EN 285:2009 in a sterilizer and
validated according to ISO 17665-1:2006.
When using the fractionated steam sterilization method, fully
desalted or distilled water must be used for steam creation
(cf. EN 285).
