9. Install Tile in the Grip Rail
NOTE: The bottom edge of the grip rail is slightly thinner than the top edge. The tile should be flush with
the top edge and extend slightly beyond the bottom edge of the grip rail.
Determine how thick of a mortar or adhesive bed will be needed by subtracting the tile thickness
from 3/4" (1.9 cm).
3/4" (1.9 cm) - Tile Thickness = Mortar/Adhesive thickness.
If mortar or adhesive is unable to provide a thick enough underlayment, use a piece of wall
material (cement board) as a shim.
Apply the adhesive or mortar to the grip rail in the correct thickness.
Apply the tile to the grip rail. Confirm that the front face of the tile is flush with the top front edge
of the grip rail.
Apply color matched silicone sealant to the seams around the tile.
