E. BEFORE EVERY RIDE

1. INSPECTING THE HELMET

Warning:
The helmet should be checked for damages prior to every ride. Small, superficial
scratches do not impact the protective functionality of the helmet. If more substantial
damages are evident (cracks, dents, paint cracked or rubbed off) then the helmet
should not be used again.

2. INSPECTING THE CHIN STRAP

1. Put on the helmet.
2. Ensure that the chin strap is running below the chin.
3. Using the pointer finger, grip the chin strap and pull it downward. If the chin strap is
loosely fit to the chin, then it is set too long and should be tightened.
4. If the chin strap is so snug on the chin that it cannot be closed, then check whether
the helmet is still the right size.
5. Each time the strap is adjusted repeat the check of the chin strap.
Warning:
Never ride without the chin strap closed and properly adjusted! The chin strap must sit
correctly and there should be no play when tugged. Only once there is no longer any
play in the chin strap is it properly closed.

3. CHECK OF THE VISOR AND SUN VISOR

Warning:
The visor and sun visor must always be in flawless condition and should thus be
checked regularly for mechanical damages. Damaged and/or soiled visors and sun
visors degrade the rider's vision in all driving situations, making them unsuitable for
street use and increasing the risk of accident. They should be replaced or cleaned
before starting the ride.

F. FOR YOUR SAFETY

1. SAFETY WARNINGS

Warning:
Only use a helmet that fits right and is seated properly.
Warning:
Motorcycle riding brings with it specific health risks and hazards for the rider and
passenger. These risks and hazards can be reduced but not eliminated by wearing a
helmet. There remains no definitive documentation of the concrete protective impact
of a helmet during an accident. A conservative riding style adjusted to reflect the road
and weather conditions is a key element in maintaining your safety.
Warning:
After a crash or accident or violent impact to the helmet, its complete protective
performance is no longer ensured! The helmet is designed to absorb energy during
impact, not unlike the crumple zone on the car. That process is based around the
partial or complete structural destruction of the inner and/or outer shell of the helmet.
In many cases, these damages are not visible to the wearer. The protective helmet
is intended solely for the absorption of one impact. After a crash, accident or other
application of force, the helmet must thus always be replaced. For safety reasons the
old helmet should be made unusable.
Warning:
Any drop, even from a height of less than 1 m, can lead to small cracks in the helmet
shell and degrade its ability to provide complete protection.
Warning:
No helmet offers protection against all possible impacts. This helmet was designed
specially for use with motorcycles. It is not suitable for other purposes.
Warning:
The helmet should be replaced every 5–7 years, depending on how often it is used
and maintained. The outer shell is in principle designed for a longer period of use, yet
due to expected material exhaustion and material wear in the other components and
the overall impact of the helmet and unpredictable framework conditions throughout
its usage, we recommend that the helmet nevertheless be replaced based on the
schedule listed above.
Warning:
Severe heat (such as from the exhaust system) can damage the helmet!
Warning:
Never use a tinted visor or sun visor when riding in poor visibility conditions, at night
or when passing through tunnels. Suspend driving if visibility is poor.
