If you have problems with your system, read this section
and try to solve the problem yourself before calling your
dealer or TEAC service centre.
General
No power
e Check the connection to the AC power supply.
Confirm that the AC source is not a switched outlet.
If it is, the switch must be turned on. Make sure there
is power to the AC outlet by plugging another device
such as a lamp or fan into the outlet.
No sound from the speakers
e Select the source by pressing the FUNCTION button.
e Adjust the volume.
e Pull out the headphone's plug from the PHONES jack.
e If the VOLUME level indicator is blinking, press the
MUTING button. (If "CD" or "USB" is selected, press the
PLAY/PAUSE (G/J) button to start playback.)
The sound is noisy
e The unit is too close to a TV or similar appliance. Place
the unit away from other devices or turn them off.
The remote control does not work
e Press the STANDBY/ON switch to turn the unit on.
e If the battery has died, replace it with a new one.
e Use the remote control within its range (5 m) and
point it at the front panel.
e Remove obstacles between the remote control and
the unit.
e If a strong light is near the unit, turn it off.
CD Player
Does not play
e Load a disc with the label side up.
e If the disc is dirty, clean the surface of the disc.
e If a blank disc has been loaded, load a prerecorded
disc.
e Depending on the disc, for example, it might not
be possible to play CD-R/RW discs. Try again with
another disc.
e You cannot play unfinalized CD-R/RW discs. Finalize
such a disc in a CD recorder and try again.
Sound skips
e Place the unit on a stable surface to avoid vibration
and shock.
e If the disc is dirty, clean the surface of the disc.
e Do not use scratched, damaged or warped discs.

Troubleshooting

Cannot hear a station, or the signal is too weak
e Tune in the station properly.
e Rotate the unit or antenna for the best reception
position.
Though the broadcast is in stereo, it sounds mono
e Press the FM MODE button.
MP3/WMA
There is no sound even if the play/pause (y/J)
button is pressed
e Confirm that there are MP3/WMA files on the USB
memory.
e Other file formats (e.g. MPEG 1 LAYER 2 file) cannot be
played.
"No song title No artist No album" appears on the
display
e There is no ID3 tag information for the music file.
Edit the song title, artist, and album information of
the song on a computer using an application that
can make and edit MP3/WMAs. ID3 tag information
is not stored in files that are recorded using this unit.
Some unknown characters are shown on the display
e This unit cannot display symbols and full-size or
double-byte characters (such as Japanese and
Chinese) correctly. MP3/WMA file names should use
only alphanumeric characters.
Recording is not possible
e The USB memory does not have a recordable area.
Use another USB memory.
e The recording level is too low. Adjust the recording
level.
If normal operation cannot be restored, unplug the
power cord from the outlet briefly and then plug it
again.
If the power supply is interrupted, the settings kept
in memory (clock, preset stations, timer setting) will
be erased.
