Inspect tool assembly before use, tighten the nuts, screws and knobs if deemed necessary.
a) Should you need to adjust the tension, follow the below procedure (Fig.7):
With the provided key (e),
To tighten the chain tension: turn the tension nut (f) clockwise
To loosen the chain tension: turn the tension nut (f) counterclockwise
IMPORTANT: The chain must neither be too tight or too loose.
You must be able to lift the chain a few mm (0.050in +/- 1.2mm)
away from the bar.
b) Should you need to change the chain, follow the below procedure (Fig.8+9+10):
1- Loosen the nut (g) and remove the chain cover (h).
2- Remove guide bar and old chain (if applicable).
3- Mount the guide bar (c7) onto the two guiding poles (k) and chain tensioner pin (l).
4- Then fit the saw chain (c6) around the bar (c7) and sprocket (m)
WARNING: Pay attention to the correct direction of the saw chain
5- Slightly tighten the chain tensioner nut (f) clockwise, then install the chain cover (h) and fasten
the nut (g) with fingers.
6- Adjust the chain tension by turning the tension nut (f) until the chain sits comfortably and not too
tightly into the chain bar (refer to point "a" above).
Then check the chain for smooth rotation and correct tension while moving it by hand.
If necessary, readjust and tighten
7- Finally, tighten the nut (g) securely with the provided key (e).
WARNING
It is very important to maintain the proper chain tension. Rapid wear of the guide bar or the
chain coming off easily can be caused by improper tension. Especially when using a new chain,
take good care as it will expand when first used.
