GENERAL NOTES

Information on GPS and IRIDIUM satellite signals
To navigate and to send or receive messages with the handheld device and transmitter, the reception of GPS and IRIDIUM satellite
signals is required. If you are indoors, near to or between high buildings, in gorges, under trees, in cornfields or underpasses, in
heavy fog, rain or snowfall, the handheld device and transmitter may receive no or only limited satellite signals. If this occurs, move
to a location that offers you an unrestricted view of the sky or wait until the weather situation improves.
The NAVSTAR GPS system and IRIDIUM Communications satellite system are provided by operators in the United States of
America who are solely responsible for their function, availability, maintenance and accuracy. The systems may therefore be
subject to changes at any time that may affect their function, accuracy and performance. The RAPTOR system is independent of
these satellite services, and so ASPERIUM cannot be held responsible for the availability and reliability of the satellite systems.
Information on the battery
Handheld device: For your own safety, always carry a spare set of fully-charged batteries for the handheld device with you when
you are in open terrain. Only use the Panasonic/Sanyo 3.7V li-ion batteries, type UR14500P approved by ASPERIUM. Inserting any
other types of battery into the device will lead to damage or a loss of output.
Transmitter: You can prolong the service life of your equipment, especially the transmitter battery (lithium polymer) by not
exposing the transmitter to direct sunlight, very high temperatures or very low temperatures for long periods of time.
General: Recharge the batteries in the handheld device and transmitter immediately after use in order to avoid deep discharging.
If the batteries are not in use, they should be recharged every three weeks to protect them against deep discharging.
Failure to comply with the above instructions can lead to battery faults. The function of the batteries depends on the correct
handling of the equipment.
If the equipment is handled incorrectly, the manufacturer cannot accept any liability for damaged or weakened batteries.
At temperatures below +5° Celsius, the battery power of the handheld device, and especially the transmitter
battery, drops considerably due to technological constraints. Please note that the number of message
transmissions can be reduced markedly and/or the transmitter may switch itself off.
Software updates for the handheld device and transmitter
In order to improve or extend the functions on your device, ASPERIUM provides free software updates. You can find out about
these at www.asperium.com. To install a software update, take your system to your dealer or send it directly to ASPERIUM.
Please be aware that we will only charge shipping costs, which are dependent on the shipping destination.

Information on the handheld device
The handheld device has the option of having an external antenna connected to it. The antenna screw connection is not designed
to accommodate high mechanical stresses.
It is expressly pointed out that the antenna or an antenna plug must not be tightly attached.
If the screw connection on the handheld device and antenna is damaged due to excess mechanical force, this constitutes incorrect
use of the device.
Cleaning the equipment (handheld device, transmitter)
The handheld device and transmitter are made from high-quality materials and other than occasional cleaning require no special
maintenance by the user. Clean the housing of the equipment with a soft cloth that has been moistened with water or a mild
cleaning solution and wipe the housing dry afterwards.
Do not use any harsh cleaning products or solvents, which may damage the housing parts.
The display screen has a special optical anti-reflection coating and must only be cleaned with a soft cloth, if necessary moistened
with water.
Protecting the equipment (handheld device, transmitter)
Do not store your equipment in places that are exposed to very high or very low temperatures or where there is high moisture
content for prolonged periods of time. Doing so may result in malfunctions and damage to the equipment and, in a worst-case
scenario, result in a risk of fire due to the batteries overheating.
Additional navigation maps
You can purchase additional navigation maps for the handheld device. A list of the maps that are compatible with the handheld
device can be found on the ASPERIUM website (www.asperium.com).
Extras and optional accessories
Further information on the optional accessories available for the RAPTOR system can be found on the ASPERIUM website
