Soft-starters are static drives that allow the progressive start of three-phase electric motors.
INSTALLATION – ELECTRICAL CONNECTION
The location for installation must be free of dust, gas and liquids of any type: the vaporised
liquids must not be allowed to condense under any circumstance.
A terminal block is available to connect the three power phases of the three-phase line (terminals
R-S-T) and the load outputs (terminals U-V-W): a second terminal block is dedicated to the
inputs of the start and stop control signals (terminals 2 and 3) as well as the selection of the first
and second start threshold (terminals 1 and 3).
The output connections with runs greater than 20 meters could cause malfunctions due to eddy-
currents: in this case inductors must be introduced in series with the output.

SETTINGS – CONNECTIONS
The 486A electronic control unit includes three setting potentiometers and one LED with the
following functions:

The first torque value should ideally be diminished the
greater the weight of the gate.
