Mounting the saw blade
Pull the plug out of the socket before carrying out any
u
work on the power tool.
When fitting or changing the saw blade, wear protect-
u
ive gloves. Blades are sharp and can become hot when
used for prolonged periods of time.
The protective guard may become hot during pro-
u
longed use. Allow it to cool down before touching it.
Do not pull on the chain and do not pull the chain off
u
the guide unit.
Always replace a complete saw blade with a complete
u
saw blade. The chain cannot be replaced on its own.
Use only clean saw blades. Ensure that the SDS saw
u
blade receptacle is also free of chips and sawdust.
Choose the saw blade suited to the material you want
u
to work on.
Make sure that the bevel angle is set to 0°.
u
To fit the saw blade, it must be locked in the middle of the
saw table.
– Push the locking mechanism (11) to the left and hold it
there. Pull the connecting rod (10) forwards until the
locking mechanism engages in the first set-up position.
Removing the saw blade (see figures F1−F2)
– If necessary, loosen the screwed connections from the
holes (6) and position the saw on the left-hand side.
– Use the lever (28) to open the cover (29) of the SDS saw
blade receptacle (33).
Ensure that the SDS saw blade receptacle is opened fully.
– Remove the saw blade (3) to the left through the saw
table.
Inserting the saw blade (see figure F2)
– Insert the saw blade as shown in the illustration. Make
sure that the recess in the saw blade is over the drive
shaft (32). The end of the saw blade must fit in the SDS
saw blade receptacle (33).
– Close the cover (29) of the SDS saw blade receptacle
(33) and lock it using the locking lever for the SDS saw
blade receptacle (28) until you feel it click into place.
The chain of the saw blade is automatically tensioned.
If the chain slips through or becomes detached from the
guide unit (31), open and close the cover (29) of the saw
blade receptacle (33) again.
Make sure that the protective guard works properly
u
and that it can move freely. Never lock the protective
guard in place when opened.
The holder for the protective guard must be aligned
u
with the saw blade in order to prevent the workpiece
from jamming.
– Mount the saw back onto the work surface.

Operation
Supporting the Workpiece/Using an Underlay
The free end of long workpieces must have something
placed underneath it or be supported.
– Position the workpiece support (34) on the work bench
underneath the free end of the workpiece such that it is
supported (see figure G1).
– You can also support the workpiece by placing the Bosch
PTA 1000 roller support stand under its free end (see fig-
ure G2). The rollers ensure that the workpiece can move
accordingly.
Setting the mitre angle (universal guide) (see
figure H)
The mitre angle can be set between 60° (left side) and 60°
(right side).
For quick and precise setting of commonly used mitre
angles, the universal guide clicks into place at the following
standard angles:
Leftward
0°
60°; 45°; 30°; 22.5°; 15°
– Loosen the clamping lever (1) in an anticlockwise direc-
tion.
– Turn the universal guide (2) until the desired mitre angle
engages or the angle indicator (35) shows the desired
mitre angle on the scale (36).
– Retighten the clamping lever (1).
Note: Use the screw grabber (37) to make it easier to
tighten and loosen the clamping lever.
Setting the Bevel Angle (Saw Blade)
The bevel angle can be set between 0° and 45°.
– Loosen the wing bolt (17) slightly by turning it anticlock-
wise.
– Turn the rotary knob (15) until the angle indicator (16)
shows the desired bevel angle on the scale (14).
– Retighten the wing bolt (17).
Note: Use the screw grabber (37) to make it easier to
tighten and loosen the wing bolt.
Adjusting the Universal Guide
Before making any cuts, first make sure that the saw
u
blade cannot come into contact with the stops or any
other parts of the tool at any time.
The universal guide (2) can be used in different ways ac-
cording to the operating mode:
– As a cross, angle or parallel guide
Using the universal guide as a cross or angle guide (see
figure I1)
– Mount the universal guide (2) on the saw table (5).
