Water-resistance
16 | 17
The water-resistance of IWC watches is stated in bar, and not in metres.
Metres, as often used elsewhere in the watch industry to indicate the water-
resistance, cannot be equated with the dive depth of a dive because of the
test procedures that are frequently used. Metres also do not permit any
conclusions to be drawn about the actual uses in the presence of moisture,
wetness and in or under the water. Recommended uses in conjunction with
the water-resistance of your watch can be found on the Internet at
www.iwc.com/water-resistance. Your authorized IWC Official Agent will
also be pleased to provide you with information.
In order to ensure its perfect function, your watch must be tested by an
IWC service point at least once a year. Testing must also be performed after
exposure to exceptional stresses. If these tests are not performed as
stipulated, or if the watch is opened by unauthorized persons, IWC will
decline any warranty or liability claims.
Recommendation: Your authorized IWC Official Agent must carry out a
water-resistance test whenever your IWC watch is opened and serviced.
Service for your Big Pilot's Watch
All the parts in this watch are manufactured from top-quality materials.
Nevertheless, a number of parts are subject to natural wear and tear. It is
particularly important to ensure that points at which wear occurs are
always optimally lubricated and that contamination of the oil caused by
metal-to-metal abrasion is regularly removed. This is why we recommend
that you have a maintenance service carried out on your watch about
every five years. Please contact an approved IWC Official Agent or send your
watch directly to the IWC Customer Service Department in Schaffhausen.
Status January 2009.
Technical specifications subject to change.
