Design
The sensor box SRBP is contained in a sturdy aluminium housing. A transparent
plastic cap in the cover allows the three-dimensional visual position indicator to be

baseplate, and is linked mechanically with the position indicator. On the sides, the
sensor box has up to two cable connectors, depending on the model (
The visual position indicator is comprised of sections. The sections can be put
together so as to display the flow paths of single-way and multiple-way valves
Fig. 1 3 and 4 ).
(
The housing contains the device electronics and a 9-pin terminal strip for electrical
Fig. 1 aB ). The device electronics include up to three reed switches
connection (
for detecting up to three adjustable positions, depending on the model used.
The reed switches are attached to rotating holders and are actuated by a magnet,
without contact. The magnet holder is joined to the shaft by a slipping clutch.
A circular scale (
switch holders. For ease of commissioning, internal LEDs indicate which reed
switch is being actuated at any time, meaning which of them is in the magnetic
field. Four captive mounting screws (
box are for mounting it mechanically on quarter-turn actuators having a mechani-
cal interface in accordance with VDI/VDE Guideline 3845 (hole pattern
30 x 80 [mm] ).
The sensor box SRBP is available in various designs. Position indicators can be
supplied in a range of colours and materials, with a number of cable connector
options, and in models with different switching functionality (normally open con-
tact; changeover switch).

Function
6
The rotation of the quarter-turn actuator and valve mounted under the sensor box
is transmitted to the shaft of the sensor box. The shaft transmits the rotation to
the built-in magnet and the visual position indicator.
7
The visual position indication shows whether the valve is open or closed. When the
valve is open, the indicator ring (

Reed switches are actuated when they are in the magnetic field of the magnet.
With variant ...-1U-... the actuated reed switches are indicated by an LED lighting
up, to help with commissioning (visible while the housing cover is removed during
