1 The microprocessor interprets the bus commands, initiates
device--internal actions and provides measured values, status and
device data on the bus.
2 The device--internal electronics are isolated from the PROFIBUS PA
by the potential isolation.
3 The bus interface contains the transmission and reception circuits for
the bus system.
4 The electronic current limiter ensures in the event of an error that
no impermissibly high current flows. This avoids overloading of the
bus; the data traffic of the other, undisturbed
users is still in operation.
5 The reverse polarity protection enables any connection of the
bus lines and makes installation errors practically impossible
The bus must have a bus termination at both ends for error--free
communication. This may be provided by a bus termination in the
coupler or link at the end nearest the control system. An additional
termination must be fitted at the remote end of the bus.
The specified interference resistance and spurious emission are only
guaranteed if the bus shield is fully effective.
This includes connection of the shields with the metal bracket plate in
the SIPAN 32 with PROFIBUS PA but also the wiring of the shields to
the terminal boxes, distributors, DP/PA couplers or DP/PA links.
