The following functions are available:
• Function #1, green LED shortly flashes once: Drive function
In this settings menu the speed controller unit can be switched between "forwards/brake", "forwards/brake/reverse"
and "forwards/reverse".
If the setting "forwards/brake" is selected (red LED flashes once) , reverse driving is switched off.
• Function #2, green LED shortly flashes twice: Handbrake
The hand braking function prevents the vehicle from rolling off on sloping ground. The higher the set value of the
handbrake function, the less the vehicle rolls when it is resting on a slope.
A standard electric motor - at rest - has a certain amount of braking strength due to the magnets it contains - a
brushless electric motor, however, does not. The speed controller's hand brake function silmulates this braking
strength.
• Function #3, green LED shortly flashes 3x: Undervoltage protection
If LiPo rechargeable batteries are used, then you must ensure that the low-voltage protection is activated (we
recommend 3.0V per cell).
When using LiPo rechargeable batteries, never drive without undervoltage protection. Without undervoltage
protection, LiPo batteries can be damaged in case of deep discharge.
It is also important that the function #12 (LiPo cell number) is configured correctly.
When LiPo rechargeable batteries are used, we recommend programming a fixed number of LiPo cells so
that the undervoltage protection will work properly (do not set function #12 to "Auto").
Since the car is intended for two-cell LiPo driving batteries connected in series (so this results in a 4-cell
driving battery), function #12 must be set to "4 cells".
When "Auto" is selected (basic factory setting), the speed controller calculates the number of cells auto-
matically from the battery voltage measured at start-up. When the driving batteries that are connected are
not fully charged, this will lead to a wrong number of cells!
When the speed controller is switched on, green LED flashes and the motor beeps to indicate the number
of cells recognised. Observe chapter 8. h).
a) Voltage below 8.8V: 2-cell LiPo driving battery
b) Voltage between 8.8 and 17.6V -> 4-cell driving battery (correct for this vehicle)
c) Voltage above 17.6V -> 6-cell driving battery
If, during operation, the battery voltage undercuts the value selected for more than 2 seconds, the motor is switched
off to protect the battery. In addition to this, the red LED flashes (flash-order: "•- •-
If NiMH rechargeable batteries are connected to the speed controller (2 NiMH driving batteries of the same
build, 6 cells each), function #12 must be set to rechargeable battery tyle "4 cell LiPo" and function #3 tot
he respective LiPo cell voltage, so that the desired switch-off voltage for NiMH is reached (Example: 4
LiPo cells * 2.6 V/cell = switch-off voltage 10.4V for NiMH).
